Pista House aims to comply with the conditions and provisions in the Privacy Act 1988 and the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

Although the basic tenets of our privacy policy will remain the same (the principle of protecting your privacy and data) some overarching terms may need to be changed over the period of time and Pista House reserves the right to do the same.

Initial terms to understand

This is a privacy policy of Pista House Pty. Ltd., based in Melbourne. In this document, when we refer to “we”, “us” or “our”, it means Pista House.

Pista House is a registered company in Victoria. Our registered office is at 16 Sydney Road, Coburg, VIC 3058.

Legal obligation

We make a commitment that all the private information that we obtain from you (customer) will not be shared by us with any third party for the sake of research and commercial use, but we reserve the right to use or disclose any part of the information without notice or consent if we are required to do so by an Australian law, regulation, or legal request. This may be due to some ongoing investigation or if there is a consumer complaint or a breach of law. This would be done to protect the integrity and interests of our business as well as to comply with the local laws.

Additionally, if the information that you have provided us appears on any other website that is neither related to our business nor our interests, without our knowledge or involvement, we cannot be held responsible for the misuse of that information. For example, if someone finds your phone number or email on another website (while you have also shared your phone number or email with us) and uses that information to cheat you, exhort money from you, issue you a threat, or performs any other unlawful activity, Pista House cannot be held responsible for the subsequent chain of events.

The Pista House may use third-party services for customer relationship management (CRM), accounting & bookkeeping, cloud storage, email communication, web hosting and email marketing, and for some of these purposes, we may need to store your non-financial information (your email ID and phone number) on the servers of the services. In case of a data breach and if the information lands in the hands of lawbreakers, principally and legally, the Pista House cannot be held responsible because when we are using these services, we are using them with the confidence that they are taking all the precautions necessary and available to protect the information we are putting up there. Beyond that, it is not in our control. When using our website, you are consenting that on a need basis, we may use your information to communicate with you, and keep you engaged and informed of our current and upcoming offers, and for that, we may need to submit your contact information to one of the above-mentioned cloud services.

If you create an account on our website, your username and password will also be saved on web-hosting servers (Shopify is a leader in providing web-hosting services). Please make sure that you create a unique password, and it is NOT THE SAME password that you use to check your email or social networking websites or for banking transactions. In case you use the same password that you also use for accessing financially and otherwise sensitive services on the Internet and in case there is a data breach on our servers and this password is accessed and used to carry out an unlawful activity, the Pista House cannot be held responsible because we have already mentioned on this page that you should use a unique password (that you’re not using with any other service) when you create an account at the Pista House website.

When sharing useful information on our website through blogs and articles, sometimes we may share third-party links we are not affiliated to. These may be completely unrelated links such as links to news websites, social media links (a direct link to a Twitter update), a blog, a directory, or an online forum. If you find such a link on our website and go to that link, please use, or interact on this website at your own discretion. The Pista House cannot be held accountable for any untoward incident happening on those websites (after you land on them through our website).

What information do we obtain from you, and how?

When you call us, we will know your phone number. We will preserve the number for future communication needs. If you send us an email, we will receive your email and we will save the email for future communication needs. When you submit our contact form, we will get information pertaining to all the fields included in the contact form such as your first and second name, your phone number, your email, and your address. If the billing address and the shipping address are different, we will be saving both the addresses along with contact information of both the geographical locations.

You can place online orders on our website and to facilitate that, we are using a shopping cart with well-known payment gateways. For that, we will accept your credit card information, but we don’t save your credit card information. As soon as the payment is completed, your credit card information is erased.

We obtain your information through the following means:

• When you call us for information or to place an order and share your contact information with us.
• When you register on our website.
• When you place an order on our website.
• When you subscribe to our newsletter updates.

Do we have access to your information without your knowledge?

We get some broad information about you when you visit our website, but the information cannot be used to obtain your phone number or email, or to know the exact location of where you live.

We will know your IP address. Our analytics software will tell us the city where you live. We will also get information on what browser you’re using to access our website (Chrome, Firefox, and such), and the device you’re using (PC browser or mobile phone browser and also an Android device or an iOS device). These are just general bits of information that help us improve our website experience. These bits of information cannot be used to obtain your identity or your residential address or your contact information or even to access your device.

What are cookie files and why do we use them?

Cookie files are harmless text files that are saved locally on your computer when you are visiting our website. They help us give you a better experience. Most of the cookie files are immediately deleted after use. For example, if you add items to the shopping cart, they will be saved in a cookie file if you are not logged in. This is so that if you close your browser window without checking out and when you again come to our website, the items that you added in the shopping cart will be there and you won’t have to add them again.

If you’re logged in, instead of using a cookie file, the items that you have added to your shopping cart (and haven’t yet checked out) will be saved in our database.

Cookie files are used to store temporary information. Once you have logged in you may remain logged in until you log yourself out. Your browser will save your username and password to automatically log you in when you come to our website. Your username and your most recent activity on our website is saved in the cookie, but the password is saved by the browser itself.

At any time, you can instruct your browser to delete the saved cookies on your system but then if you had added items to the shopping cart and you didn’t check out before closing the browser, you may need to add the items again.

How do we preserve your private data?

Most of the crucial data is stored in reputed cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, Google web servers and Amazon Web Services. These are highly reliable services, and they are trusted across the spectrum. 

Can you request us to delete all your information?

You can call us anytime or email us requesting that we delete all information pertaining to you, and we will do that. No questions asked.

As mentioned above, we have control of information that is present on our website and on the servers controlled by us. We are not in control of information existing on third-party websites.

We reserve the right to change the information presented above as and when required.
